Side-channel attacks on Cryptosystems

Ljiljana Dilparic

The traditional model of cryptography examines the security of the cypher as a mathematical function. In reality, ciphers are implemented on physical devices that interact with and influence the environment. Real-world devices are not ideal and leak information into so-called side-channels. This information can be monitored and used in cryptanalysis. The talk will discuss different kinds of side-channel attacks and architectural issues related to securing the physical layer of cryptosystems.
