HASE Model of a Massively-Parallel Computer

Sadaf Alam

Abstract: Computer architecture simulators provide an environment to study complex systems by visually displaying the organisation and underlying simultaneous events during program execution. With the increasingly complicated interactions between parallel architectures and software, it is believed that simulators can play a significant role in exploring the design tradeoffs and in evaluating performance. This talk will present an overview of a HASE model of the QCDOC computer. HASE is a Hierarchical Architecture design and Simulation Environment that allows rapid development and exploration of computer architectures at multiple levels of abstraction. QCDOC (Quantum Chromo-Dynamics On-a-Chip) is a 10 Teraflop application-specific massively-parallel system, which has been custom built for QCD calculations. The goal of this project is to produce a parameterised simulation model to explore the design space of the QCDOC computer.
